DESCRIPTION:Live Virtual Presentation\nThis program will explore evidence-informed approaches toward supporting lactation in the context of substance use disorders and recovery. Participants will gain practical tools – rooted in harm reduction\, evidence-based medicine\, and trauma-informed care to design and implement hospital protocols\, effectively counsel patients\, and promote realistic and patient-centered decision-making for parents affected by substance use disorders (SUDs). \nSpeaker\nMollie Nisen\, MD\, FASAM\, is a board-certified Family and Addiction medicine physician. She completed her family medicine residency and addiction medicine fellowship at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle\, where she honed an interest in the intersection between addiction care and reproductive justice. Dr. Nisen currently works at the Cooper University Center for Healing\, where she leads specialized programming for perinatal/parenting with SUDs. These disparities are influenced by structural racism\, systemic inequities in healthcare\, and barriers to culturally responsive care. This webinar explores the impact of implicit bias and systemic inequities on Black perinatal mental health and highlights strategies providers can use to offer more equitable and responsive care. DESCRIPTION:Instructor: Tyeisha A. James\, MSN\, RNC-MNN\, CNL \nBasic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare professionals trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies\, give high-quality CPR\, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. \nTarget Audience: The BLS Course from the American Heart Association is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings. \nCourse Components:  \n\nHigh-quality CPR for adults\, children\, and infants\nThe AHA Chain of Survival\, specifically the BLS components\nImportant early use of an AED\nEffective ventilations using a barrier device\nImportance of teams in multi-rescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multi-rescuer CPR\nRelief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants\n\nThe American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose.
