SUMMARY:On-Demand Webinar - Reducing the Risk of Sudden Unexpected Infant Death: A Guide for Healthcare Providers
DESCRIPTION:This recorded on-demand program is an opportunity for nurses and other health professionals who work with families to learn the updated safe sleep guidelines of the American Academy of Pediatrics to reduce the risk of SIDS and other sleep-related infant deaths. \nAfter attending this webinar\, participants will be able to: \n\nDefine Sudden Unexpected Infant Death\nState the established risk factors and risk-reducing practices\nDescribe AAP 2022 updates\n\nSpeaker: Barbara M. Ostfeld\, Ph.D.\, is a Professor of Pediatrics at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School – Rutgers University and Program Director of the SIDS Center of New Jersey\, which she helped establish in 1987. She is a nationally recognized expert on Sudden Unexpected Infant Death\, and her research contributed to the safe infant sleep policies of the American Academy of Pediatrics. \nTarget Audience: Perinatal and Pediatric Nurses \nLearning Outcome: At the conclusion of the program\, the participants will self-report knowledge gained related to risk-reducing practices for Sudden Unexpected Infant Death and intent to change practice by incorporating methods for reducing risks into professional practice. \nCost: This program is free\, but registration is required. \nRegistration: Click here to register. \nContinuing Nursing Education Contact Hours: This program has been awarded 1.0 contact hours. \nThe Partnership for Maternal and Child Health of Northern New Jersey is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by New Jersey State Nurses Association\, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. DESCRIPTION:This presentation during the Essex Metro Immunization Coalition Meeting will provide a review of the epidemiology of measles\, including current trends and prevalence. Rashes that mimic measles will be discussed to assist in accurate diagnosis and treatment. Diagnosis and strategies for the prevention of measles will also be explored. Finally\, this program will focus on the importance of reporting a communicable disease such as measles to public health authorities\, as timely and accurate reporting is crucial in protecting community health.\nUzma Naveen Hasan\, M.D.\nDr. Uzma Naveen Hasan is the Division Chief of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center\, an RWJBarnabas Health facility\, and an Assistant Professor at RWJ-Rutgers Medical School. Dr. Hasan is a nationally recognized expert in pediatric long-COVID\, opening one of the first pediatric long-COVID clinics in the nation. Dr. Hasan is board-certified in both Pediatric Infectious Disease Medicine and Pediatrics. With a passion for treating children with infectious diseases\, Dr. Hasan’s philosophy is to provide outstanding care and treat each child as she would treat her own family member.

SUMMARY:Models of Care for Congenital Syphilis Prevention: Substance Use Treatment in Pregnancy
DESCRIPTION:Primary and secondary syphilis rates among people of childbearing age continue to rise in New Jersey\, leading to high rates of congenital syphilis. For pregnant people seeking treatment for substance use disorder\, linkage to prenatal care and testing for syphilis are key interventions to\ndecrease congenital syphilis. This webinar will explore best practices in coordination of care among maternal health care providers and substance use treatment services.\nSpeakers\nNatalie E. Roche\, MD is the Director of the Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Health at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and is faculty in the Addiction Medicine Fellowship. Dr. Roche is board- certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Addictions Medicine. \nMargaret B. Rizzo has been employed with JSAS HealthCare\, Inc. in various positions since 1991 and currently serves as the agency’s Executive Director.
