HR Manager


LOCATION: Newark, New Jersey

ANNUAL SALARY: $60,000 – $65,000

WORK HOURS: 37.5 hours /week


JOB SUMMARY: Provide support to the Human Resources Department as needed, including preparation of reports, file maintenance and payroll/benefit portal maintenance. Manage administrative aspects of employee benefit plans; act as liaison between employees and insurance providers. Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements, maintaining records, and submitting required reporting. Assist Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) with planning/coordination of employee orientations, trainings, engagement activities.



  • Screen candidates for open positions to streamline hiring process for hiring managers.
  • Handle onboarding/offboarding of employees including computer access/email, company equipment, exit interviews, etc.
  • Process pre-employment employee background screenings and/or CARI background checks.
  • Administer benefit plans, incl enrollments, changes and terminations, COBRA. Process required documents through insurance portals and ensure accurate record-keeping of payroll deductions in ADP WFN. Resolve employee issues related to benefits/payroll.
  • Process 403(b) Retirement plan contributions and entries into ADP Workforce Now.
  • Prepare benefit plan emails; conduct new hire benefit orientations.
  • Maintain accurate job descriptions for all positions.
  • Maintain employee payroll/benefit records in multiple portals (ADP, EASE, Equitable, Horizon, OCA, Aflac, etc.).
  • Handle all aspects of employee leaves of absence: meet with employees, prepare leave documents/calendars, track leaves in ADP Portal, process monthly benefit invoices, etc.
  • Promote wellness benefits provided by the organization including EAP, Aflac and Calm app; manage Calm portal admin.
  • Prepare annual employee censuses for benefit renewals and mandated reporting.
  • Reconcile monthly benefit plan invoices to ensure accuracy.
  • Assist CHRO with employee performance management process and employee handbook updates.
  • Process worker’s compensation claims in connection with insurance providers.
  • Retain Human Resource records by maintaining employee HR and medical files on SharePoint.
  • Prepare and submit HR-related annual reporting mandated by State/Federal laws in a timely manner.
  • Handle other duties as required.



  • Associate degree in Human Resources preferred
  • Minimum 5 years experience in Human Resources
  • Knowledge of HR practices, employment laws and regulations
  • High level of discretion and sensitivity due to the highly confidential nature of work assignments
  • Strong attention to detail; ability to handle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
  • Excellent time management, organizational and problem resolution skills
  • Knowledge of ADP Workforce Now preferred
  • Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office Suite, including MS Teams
