Program Specialist – Parent Engagement Program        

CLASSIFICATION:  Part-Time/Non-Exempt

LOCATION: Irvington, New Jersey

WORK HOURS: 18.5 hours /week

SALARY: $21 – $23/hour

$1,000 Signing Bonus

JOB SUMMARY: S-PEP provides education and strategies to parents and professionals on how to effectively communicate with teens and pre-teens about topics that are often difficult to discuss such as sex, drugs and alcohol, stress, and more. Responsible for assisting with the coordination, recruitment, and facilitation of Teen Speak workshop cohorts throughout the eight northern NJ counties.  Also trains professionals on the implementation and facilitation of the Teen Speak curriculum.


  • Facilitate and implement Teen Speak workshops within the eight (8) northern NJ counties. Implement with fidelity. Administer and collect process and outcomes evaluation tools. Ensure Teen Speak targets are reached annually in the Northern Region. Conduct the necessary marketing and outreach for Teen Speak recruitment.
  • Maintain partnerships with Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) and others.
  • Assist the Program Manager while conducting Teen Speak Training of Trainers (TOT) for subgrantee organization staff.
  • Conduct Teen Speak Training of Educators (TOE) for partner organizations. Secure Memoranda of Understanding.  Ensure fidelity to the curriculum.  Collect information/data for all Teen Speak cohorts and outcomes.
  • Assist the Program Manager with identifying and recruiting members of the statewide Stakeholder committee, steering committee, Youth Advisory Board, and professionals for the MITEY Change training.
  • Ensure data is accurate and up to date for ongoing Teen Speak Cohorts.
  • Stay up to date on the latest information, research, trends, and statistics regarding teen/parent populations served to ensure the use of best practices.
  • Attend all required meetings and trainings by funder.
  • Promote the S-PEP Program at health fairs, meetings, and events throughout the year.
  • Ensure all data collection tools are maintained for confidentiality.
  • Handle other assignments as requested.


  •  A bachelor’s degree with a concentration in public health, health education, health sciences, or related fields
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is required.
  • Experience working with parent populations, is preferred.
  • Experience working with parent and/or teen populations and facilitating group presentations/workshops is required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of public health issues, parenting, and adolescent populations.
  • Computer literacy is required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
