SUMMARY:Empathy in Action: Supporting Parents\, Infants\, and  School-Aged Children Affected by  Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder
DESCRIPTION:This full-day\, in-person conference is an essential learning experience for nurses\, mental health clinicians\, pediatric providers\, and families impacted by fetal alcohol spectrum disorders. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nEnhance participants’ ability to recognize the foundations and behavioral symptoms of FASD.\nTeach participants advocacy skills to support children diagnosed with FASD in academic settings.\nEquip clinicians with practical strategies for effectively supporting parents of children with a neonatal diagnosis or FASD.\n\nTarget Audience: Nurses\, mental health clinicians\, and pediatric providers \nDisclosure/Commercial Support: The speakers and planners for this event do not have any conflicts of interest to report for this activity. There is no commercial support for this activity. \nLearning Outcomes: After attending the program\, 85% of learners will report an increase in knowledge and intent to incorporate information on the signs and symptoms of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder\, as well as practical strategies for supporting parents who have a child with a neonatal or FASD diagnosis in a clinical setting into their professional practice. Three months after the program\, 75% of attendees will report incorporating the information into professional practice. \nRegistration: Click here to register. Space is limited. Early registration is encouraged. \nContinuing Nursing Education Contact Hours: The program has been awarded 4.0 contact hours. The Partnership for Maternal and Child Health of Northern New Jersey is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by New Jersey State Nurses Association\, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
