This presentation during the Essex Metro Immunization Coalition Meeting will provide a review of the epidemiology of measles, including current trends and prevalence. Rashes that mimic measles will be discussed to assist in accurate diagnosis and treatment. Diagnosis and strategies for the prevention of measles will also be explored. Finally, this program will focus on the importance of reporting a communicable disease such as measles to public health authorities, as timely and accurate reporting is crucial in protecting community health.

Dr. Uzma Naveen Hasan is the Division Chief of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, an RWJBarnabas Health facility, and an Assistant Professor at RWJ-Rutgers Medical School. Dr. Hasan is a nationally recognized expert in pediatric long-COVID, opening one of the first pediatric long-COVID clinics in the nation. Dr. Hasan is board-certified in both Pediatric Infectious Disease Medicine and Pediatrics. With a passion for treating children with infectious diseases, Dr. Hasan’s philosophy is to provide outstanding care and treat each child as she would treat her own family member.
