This program will explore harm reduction strategies for inpatient care of pregnant individuals with substance use disorders, focusing on minimizing risks to both mother and fetus while supporting long-term recovery. There will be a review of evidence-based treatment options, including pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions, and education on how to tailor care based on individual needs and gestational age. Additionally, the session will provide strategies for navigating challenging clinical situations, such as patient-directed discharges, behavioral concerns, and staff biases, to ensure patient-centered, safe, and supportive care.
