WORK HOURS: 37.5 hours /week – evenings and weekends, as needed
SALARY: $45,500/year
JOB SUMMARY: Entry level position responsible for assisting with planning and executing lead prevention and healthy homes education and activities in-person and virtually throughout northern New Jersey.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Provide lead poisoning prevention and healthy homes education to professionals, parents, and young children throughout eight Northern New Jersey counties: Bergen, Essex (excluding Newark), Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Union, and Warren. This may include scheduling and preparing for in-person and virtual workshops and presentations. Personal use of automobile required.
- Provide eco-healthy childcare training to childcare center staff.
- Assist programs’ four lead poisoning prevention coalitions in coordinating educational campaigns.
- Initiate quarterly mass mailings promoting the Keep Me Lead Free program among childcare centers, schools and community-based organizations throughout the eight designated counties.
- Attend state task force meetings and regional lead poisoning prevention and healthy homes coalition meetings.
- Participate in health fairs and parent workshops including evenings and weekends as needed, to distribute lead prevention resources and incentives.
- Perform administrative functions at coalition meetings (e.g., taking minutes, assisting with set-up, etc.)
- Conduct marketing and outreach activities, as needed.
- Assist in planning and implementing outreach events and activities for National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week.
- Assist in providing quarterly social media outreach.
- Track all education and activities provided accurately and in a timely manner.
- Handle other assignments as requested.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Health Education, or a related field required.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish, Creole, or Arabic) is required.
- Minimum 1 year experience working with children and diverse populations
- Minimum 1 year experience conducting presentations to groups
- Demonstrated interest and knowledge in environmental public health topics.
- Computer literacy is required.
