Volunteer & Community Partnerships Specialist

LOCATION: Irvington, NJ

CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time- 37.5 hours/week

ANNUAL SALARY: $40,000 – $45,500

JOB SUMMARY:

The Volunteer & Community Partnerships Specialist is responsible for cultivating and maintaining relationships with volunteers, community organizations, service providers, and stakeholders to enhance the reach and impact of the Unity Family Success Center (UFSC). This role focuses on building collaborative partnerships that support family well-being, increase access to resources, and strengthen the center’s role as a trusted hub for community support. The Specialist works closely with internal teams and external partners to identify gaps in services, coordinate joint initiatives, and ensure families receive comprehensive, culturally responsive support. *1-2 evenings per week is required as well as weekend event participation, as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Identify the strengths, challenges and service gaps in the community in collaboration with community partners and parent leaders
  • Plan and coordinate strategies to involve parents, educators, retired professionals, and community leaders as volunteers and interns at IFDC
  • Implement new methods for attracting, training, and retaining volunteer staff and interns
  • Supervise the activities of the volunteers and interns, and provides direction; manages volunteer/intern schedules
  • Incorporate and implement Principles of Family Support and the Protective Factors into all aspects of the job
  • Plan, organize, and implement various UFSC events, activities, workshops, etc.
  • Assist families with direct support via advocacy, and information and resource sharing
  • Maintain participant files in an organized and confidential manner
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly reports, as well as monthly activities calendars
  • Assist with developing a monthly calendar of UFSC activities, securing speakers and parent leaders for workshop/activity facilitation, and facilitating workshops, activities and events directly, as needed
  • Keep accurate and organized files of resources and referral sources available to participants, including both community and state agencies/programs
  • Maintain an array of educational and support materials that can be distributed to participants to provide further information on issues that may be affecting themselves or their families
  • Attend conferences and community meetings as requested by supervisor

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associates degree in a Human Services related field is required. Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Creole is preferred.
  • Two years’ experience in development or implementation of community-based services, prevention programs, or any other human service programs.
  • Volunteer coordination and recruitment is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be familiar with and comfortable in and around the city of Irvington.
  • Valid NJ Driver’s license, safe driving record, and vehicle availability are required.
