Advancing Skills, Saving Lives: The Center for Clinical Impact’s Premier Maternal Healthcare Training

The Partnership’s Center for Clinical Impact is a hub for advancing maternal healthcare by providing patient-centered clinical education opportunities. Nurses, doulas, midwives, and other maternal healthcare workers benefit from innovative professional education, gaining skills to deliver safer, higher-quality clinical care and better patient outcomes.

“We are a great resource to meet many educational needs and goals in the maternal and child health field,” said Sarah Muller-Robbins, MPH, RN, Chief Education and Learning Officer at the Partnership. “We also partner with the 26 birthing facilities in northern New Jersey, so we train with that in mind by incorporating their feedback into our programs,” Muller-Robbins added.

Professional Education at the Center for Clinical Impact

Healthcare workers from across New Jersey, the tri-state area, and beyond attend our premier professional education courses at the Center for Clinical Impact in Secaucus, New Jersey. Attendees can earn continuing education and advance their careers while learning in a welcoming, engaging, and dynamic environment with our maternal health organization.

“I’m excited about having a training space where I can bring different people together in a simulated learning environment. We can go through concepts that really matter, and people can master their skill set. I believe in excellence, especially in nursing. If we can master our craft, we can better serve ourselves and our patients,” said Cheniqua Morales, BSN, RNC-MNN, Lead Faculty for Clinical Training and Simulation at the Center for Clinical Impact.

Maternal Healthcare Professionals Elevate Technical Skills and Build Community

The Center offers maternal healthcare workers the chance to build confidence and technical ability through live simulations. Interactive courses foster teamwork, help participants practice in real clinical scenarios, and provide not only opportunities for certifications and continuing education but also essential skills in communication, collaboration, and decision-making integral to patient care and outcomes.

“From a brand-new labor nurse to a seasoned labor nurse with 40 years in the field, there is something about learning together with people of differing experience levels that is really special. When you are in community with people, it makes the learning experience so much more powerful,” Morales said.

The Center for Clinical Impact is more than a place to earn continuing education credits; it fosters community, teamwork, and professional growth. Attendees benefit from networking, gaining practical skills, and learning from regional and national experts through a variety of in-person sessions, live webinars, and on-demand online courses.

“There’s no hierarchy in the classroom. It’s a place where you can come and fill your cup. You are learning, yes, but you also feel encouraged. You come out motivated to do good work, to provide great care, to provide safe care,” said Melissa Sylvestre, BSN, RNC-OB, Perinatal Safety Nurse, Holy Name Medical Center and visiting instructor at the Center.

A Supportive Environment for Nurses and Maternal Health Workers to Gain Professional Education

The encouragement and motivation described by Sylvestre were palpable during a recent Fetal Heart Monitoring course at the Center for Clinical Impact. Morales and Sylvestre actively engaged attendees, creating an exciting and supportive learning environment.

“We laugh, we joke, we have a great time. People come in to do this intense class for eight hours, and by the end of the day, they are smiling and laughing, which is super important to me because our professions are very stressful,” Morales said.

As the course ended, attendees connected with instructors and peers, building community and support networks while advancing their skills in an encouraging environment.

“The way you teach makes people understand and get it. Thank you,” exclaimed an attending nurse to Morales at the end of the session.
