Live Webinar – “Can She Breastfeed?” Navigating HIV and Infant Feeding Under the Updated HHS Guidelines
Recent updates to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Perinatal HIV Clinical Guidelines reflect a meaningful shift in how infant feeding is discussed with families living with HIV. Rather than a directive approach, the current guidance emphasizes shared decision-making in the context of sustained viral suppression and ongoing clinical support. For labor and delivery, newborn, and community nurses, this change calls for thoughtful communication, clear coordination, and attention to stigma, equity, and trust. This program will explore the updated recommendations through real-world case studies and clinical examples, highlighting relational nursing practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, and strategies to support families from birth through the first year of life.
