November Doula Dialogues – From Principle to Practice: Building Trauma-Informed Doula Care

Kara will explore psychological birth trauma risk factors, inclusive and identity‑affirming care practices, and supportive approaches for families experiencing trauma or loss. Through real‑world case discussions, participants will gain practical strategies they can apply immediately in client care, advocacy, and collaboration with clinical teams. By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

• Identify at least three risk factors for psychological birth trauma
• Describe how systemic racism, implicit bias, and identity-based barriers raise the risk of birth trauma
• Demonstrate at least three trauma-informed strategies to use during routine doula care
