Maternal Health Awareness Takes Center Stage as We Ring the Nasdaq Bell

Mariekarl Vilceus-Talty, MA, BSN, Partnership President & CEO, commemorated Maternal Health Awareness Day by ringing Nasdaq’s closing bell on Friday, January 23.

“Today, we are ringing this bell as a signal and as a commitment. A signal that maternal health belongs in every boardroom, in every strategic plan, every investment strategy, in every innovative pipeline, and a commitment that prioritizes maternal health for every mother and every baby,” Mariekarl said in a riveting speech during the broadcast.

The closing ceremony, broadcast from Nasdaq’s MarketSite, was streamed live from the heart of Times Square and televised to a global audience.

“The Partnership’s commitment reflects a belief we share deeply at Nasdaq. When families are supported, communities grow stronger, and opportunity expands for everyone,” said Alice Zyons, Global Purpose and Impact Manager at Nasdaq.

Surrounded by Partnership board members, executives, staff, family, and Partnership supporters, Mariekarl rang the closing bell. Thunderous applause and celebration followed for Maternal Health Awareness Day. We commemorate this important day every day with our work at the Partnership. We believe all people must have access to safe, respectful births and that every family deserves the opportunity to thrive.

We are changing the paradigm in maternal health by amplifying, supporting, and empowering communities. Each year, we serve over 50,000 New Jersey residents through vital programs, including home visiting, pregnancy and postpartum support, maternal mental health and breastfeeding resources, parenting and fatherhood programs, childhood lead protection, vaccine education, community doulas, professional education for healthcare providers, and more. The Partnership collaborates with member hospitals, healthcare providers, and community organizations to create systemic, lasting change that helps families not just survive, but thrive.

We are thrilled to have marked Maternal Health Awareness Day on a global stage. The Partnership thanks Nasdaq for this special opportunity and is grateful to all those working to improve maternal health.

Closing the ceremony, Mariekarl declared, “Let’s ring this bell for every mother, every baby, every family, and the future that they hold!”
