We are partnering with the Montclair Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. to support their annual Strong Starts Community Baby Shower in honor of Black Maternal Health Week. Expectant parents and parents of newborns are invited to attend this free event!
This program will explore evidence-informed approaches toward supporting lactation in the context of substance use disorders and recovery. Participants will gain practical tools - rooted in harm reduction, evidence-based medicine and trauma-informed care to design and implement hospital protocols, effectively counsel patients and promote realistic and patient-centered decision-making for parents affected by Substance Use Disorders.
This conference will explore how Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) affect individuals and families across the lifespan. Participants will learn about the importance of early diagnosis and how delays in identification can create challenges in care, including during interactions with the justice system. The sessions will offer practical, skill‑building approaches to improving screening, strengthening education, and enhancing support for families raising children with FASD at every stage of life.
